New Sherlock Holmes Featurette!

This film really does look so good.  I love the “new” portrayal of Holmes; too many times, it seems, film and television focus on his mental abilities and forget he could be extremely dynamic and physical in the original stories.

The website for the film is fantastic, including what appears to be a wonderfully intense facebook game.  (I say appears to be, since I just discovered it, and have not yet had time to play!)

I can’t wait for this film; I’m such a huge, huge fan of the stories, and this looks to be a much closer portrayal of “my” beloved Holmes and Watson that most I’ve seen.  (Some films I can’t even watch because of how they turn Watson into an idiot!)

Dr Who

Still no word on when the actual air date of the new Dr. Who special “The Waters of Mars” is, but there is an excellent (and crazy-spooky) new trailer. Go watch it here.  The last few seconds gave me chills….

And in annoying movie news, the release date for Sherlock Holmes has been pushed back until Christmas Day.  Why do they always have to tamper with the release dates?

Sherlock Holmes!

Yay!  There’s a trailer up for the new Sherlock Holmes film.  It looks gorgeous.  I couldn’t quite tell if Robert Downey’s version of Holmes meshes with my version (I’ve been in love with Holmes ever since I discovered the stories and spent a month reading nothing else), but I’m willing to give him a shot, since I think Downey is brilliant.  And at least they’re not going to portray Watson as a bumbling idiot, which is the reason I will not watch certain other adaptations.  Gah.  Don’t even get me started!

But here’s the trailer (and be sure to watch in the HQ mode):

I’m far more excited about this film than I am about Harry Potter!
