Because I haven’t posted in awhile…

…I’m going to give you a glut of goodness.  (Well, it’s a glut if you’re a fan-geek oddball like me!  🙂 )

Yay for Easter and the new Doctor Who episode “Planet of the Dead”.  I seriously did not want to go out or celebrate Easter in any other way, I just wanted to curl up with my computer and watch my Doctor.  As with the last episode, though, it was a bittersweet pleasure.  I’m still devastated that David Tennant is leaving.

Rammstein.  I found this group because I’m researching the Columbine School Shooting.  While I was reading the shooters’ journals and writing, I also checked into their favorite films and music.  I was surprised to discover what excellent taste they had – they and I are pretty much liking the same groups and films.  Does this mean they’re more normal than I imagined, or that I’m more weird?  Not sure, but now I’m obsessing over Rammstein’s music.

The fact that they sing in German only adds to the allure, as I love the sound of spoken German.  Must be genetic memory; I have a heck of a lot of German ancestry.

And I sold my first artist doll/figurine overseas!  Yes, the “Steampunk Penguin” is now steampunking it over in Sweden.

Simplicity has just released three new awesome patterns:

2581

How fabulous would this be for steampunk?  I’ve always wanted a driving costume…in different colors, though, I think.

25891

And I cannot tell you how happy I am to see Simplicity doing a fairly accurate Tudor era pattern.   A little tweaking, this could be perfect!

2621

With underthings to match!  Yay for corsets and bumrolls!

Lastly, I spent an hour sorting my closet, and for a lark I counted my shoes.

Anyone care to hazard a guess?

Not counting my cosplay and costume shoes (such as my black vinyl lace-up over the knee boots with 5″ heels! Hehehe!) I own sixty-three pairs.

Sixty-three pairs of ordinary, everyday shoes.

Yeah, that just about says it all, doesn’t it?

Steampunk Penguin II

So here’s my latest steampunk penguin – this one has faux articulated wings!

And psssst… he’s for sale!  😆

Things I am Happy about at this Moment…

1) A new season of Chad Vader begins February 1st!!!!

If you don’t know who or what Chad Vader is, go to this link and be educated. Truly, Chad Vader is one of the marvels of YouTube.

2) They’ve chosen a new Doctor, and it’s no one I hate. It’s actually no one I know either, but that’s a good thing, as I am able to come into this relationship with no prior baggage. He’s young, yes, but I’ve watched this interview with him, and I’ve seen a few moments of Doctor-ness in him. He’s certainly got offbeat looks. I like that in a British actor.

However, I still grieve the passing of the 10th Doctor.

3) The new season of Lost begins in a few days, and as I’ve just had a marathon viewing of the last season on DVD, I’m primed and ready. Time travel and disappearing islands and many other things I may never understand, yay!

4) My steampunk corset is half done. And I mean literally half done. Since it laces up the front and back, when it’s unlaced, it’s in two separate pieces. One side is completed, the other half still needs its embroidery, which I’m putting off, because the first half wasn’t all that fun to embroider. I tried a new embroidery stitch, and I’m sorta regretting it. But yay – half of it looks gorgeous!

5) I’ve sold 3 steampunk penguins this month!

6) It looks like Obama plans to pay for my chicken coop I’m building this Spring. More on this later.

7) And now I’m going to watch a Jane Austen film on tv.

Steampunk Penguin

I collect penguins, sculpt Paperclay dolls & figures, and love steampunk.  I guess it was inevitable that when I finally got around to making a collectible for myself, it was going to be a steampunk penguin.

Since penguins are flightless, I thought it logical that if a penguin were to invent anything steamy, it would be a set of wings.

spen2

He’s sculpted entirely by hand, without the use of any molds, his wings are canvas, and he has several little watch gears built into his invention. He’s about 3″ tall.

He was so much fun, that now I’m thinking of doing a whole collection of steamy beasts – all I need are some good ideas.  What would animals choose  to invent?  Would a turtle want speed?  Would a cat desire a better mousetrap?
