Thanksgiving

If you’re one of the many people who love Thanksgiving, then let me merely wish you a Happy Thanksgiving.  You might want to stop reading now and go do whatever it is you find enjoyable about this holiday.

If you’re not one of those people, welcome to this blog.  I’m feeling the need to let off a little steam.

I don’t like Thanksgiving.  My best Thanksgiving EVER was last year…when I was too sick to attend, and I got to snuggle up in bed and sleep all day.

The food is no big deal for me; I don’t like turkey (unless it’s still alive), and as for all the other food? The mashed potatoes, the gravy, the noodles?  In my family we eat big homemade meals all the time.   I don’t need a special holiday just to eat.

And my extended family?  Well…yeah.  It’s hard to get excited about hanging out with people who disdain everything I love, and make no secret of the fact that they think I am wrong in all my life choices.  And they always create some kind of huge drama around the holidays.  This year, there are not one, but TWO potential drama land mines.   NOT FUN.

Being thankful.  I don’t need a holiday for this.  Really, I don’t.  I’m tremendously thankful for my life – there isn’t a day that goes that I don’t consciously count my blessings.  There are actually very things I would change in my life…but celebrating Thanksgiving would be one of them!

I do like baking pies though.  At least that’s something.
